The winner of the Missouri Show Me and Mark Twain Awards are in:
Show Me Award winner for 2007-08 is: Magnus at the Fire.
Mark Twain Award winner for 2007-08 is: Lightning Thief.
Thank you, to all who participated this year. Books for next year’s nominees have already been ordered. I am excited to announce the addition of the Truman Award for our 6-8th grade students.
Award Nominees
Missouri Association of School Librarians sponsors Children choice book awards each year. This year St. Joseph Cathedral School library is participation in two of these awards.
The Show Me Readers Award The purpose of this award is to promote literature, literacy, and reading in Missouri elementary schools for grades 1 through 3.
The Mark Twain Award The purpose of the Mark Twain Award is to provide the children of Missouri in grades 4 through 8 with a source to enrich their lives through reading.

Scholastic Reading Counts
Scholastic Reading Counts is a literature-based reading motivation and management program that is designed to get students to read and to help educators manage and monitor their students’ reading.
Once, a student completes a book at their reading level, they are asked to take a quiz in the computer lab or his/her classroom. Students earn points at the completion of these quizzes.
